Freedom camping permitted in VEHICLES ONLY. Both self-contained and non-self contained. Camping in tents is not permitted. You may stay a maximum of two consecutive nights in any four week period. Elterwater Reserve is located approximately three kilometres north of Ward Township, adjacent to and to the east of State Highway One, as shown on the Elterwater Reserve Map. Freedom Camping is restricted in all parts of Elterwater Reserve. Take all rubbish with you and leave no trace. Keep New Zealand clean. Always use the toilet in your vehicle or a public toilet.
