Tawhitokino Campground (Walk-in)

Description
This campground is that the far end of Tawhitokino Beach. It is part of the Te Ara Moana kayak trail. You may stay in tents only. There is no vehicle access. The campground can only be accessed by foot at low tide. Maximum stay 7 nights. Bookings required.
The trail takes you past Te Iwirahirahi Point, Ruakura Bay and Waiti Bay to the white sands of Tawhitokino Beach. It's a 30 minute walk back to Waiti Bay making it a very tranquil escape.
From the car park at Kawakawa Bay, follow the Tawhitokino Track on foot around the rocks and over Papanui Point to the beach.
Amenities
Stream water only - boil water for at least three minutes before using.
Two compost toilets on site.
No bins or rubbish disposal facilities. Take all rubbish and recycling with you when you leave.
Fires prohibited at all times.
Dogs are prohibited at all times.
