Description
Freedom camping permitted in CERTIFIED SELF-CONTAINED VEHICLES ONLY.
Tararua has a permissive policy allowing freedom camping by self-contained motorcaravans on all Council land, with the following provisions:
- Towed caravans are permitted provided that they are self-contained.
- No tent camping shall be permitted.
- Overnight parking by self-contained motor caravans will be allowed except in prohibited areas.
- Permits shall not be necessary.
- Camping is permitted in reserves managed by boards at their discretion.
- Long term camping is not permitted.
- Owners shall be required to abide by the Council's dog control policy and by-law in force.
Take all rubbish with you and leave no trace.
Keep New Zealand clean. Always use the toilet in your vehicle or a public toilet.
