Description

Located on Mt Taranaki's western slopes, Kahui Hut sits in a small clearing surrounded by native bush. This is a standard 6 bunk hut in the Egmont National Park. Fees apply. Bookings not required - first come, first served. Facilities include mattresses, non-flush toilets and water (not treated - boil before use). Kahui Hut is a 6 hour return walk from Kahui Road on the Kahui Track and from Puniho Road on the Puniho Track. It can also be reached from the Around the Mountain Circuit. Before you go, buy 1 Serviced Hut Ticket (green for adults, orange for youth) or 3 Standard Hut Tickets (blue for adults, yellow for youth) for each night's stay. Put these in the honesty box at the hut. Or buy a Backcountry Hut Pass for unlimited use at most Serviced and Standard huts for a 6 or 12 month period.
