Description
Freedom camping permitted in CERTIFIED SELF-CONTAINED VEHICLES ONLY.
You may camp for no more than three (3) consecutive nights in any calendar month.
A maximum of three (3) vehicles may be parked in any one area on any one night, unless expressly provided for through signage at the site.
Hurst Park Railway Reserve is situated on the northern side of the Opunake Township, on Gisborne Terrace between Havelock and Napier Streets. It is the site of the former railway station. Freedom camping in self-contained vehicles is permitted in the old railway entrance (accessible from Gisborne Terrace) as highlighted in the map in the photos, however camping in other areas of the reserve is prohibited.
Take all rubbish with you and leave no trace.
Keep New Zealand clean. Always use the toilet in your vehicle or a public toilet.
