Bog Inn Hut

Description
This is a standard four-bunk hut located in Pureora Forest Park in the Waitomo/Pureora area. Fees apply. Bookings not required - first come, first served. This small historic hut provides trampers and hunters with a rustic overnight stay in the Pureora Forest Park.
Facilities include heating, mattresses, non-flush toilets and water (not treated - boil before use).
The hut can be reached can be visited as part of a three day tramp. It may also be accessed from the Timber Trail.
Note that due to logging on adjoining private lands, Tihoi and Bog Inn Roads have been closed and it is not possible access the hut on foot or by vehicle using these roads.
The track section between Mt Pureora and Bog Inn is no longer maintained. The alternative is to proceed down Pureora Mountain using the Toitoi Track and along the Timber Trail. Signs are in place to direct people from the Timber Trail to the Bog Inn hut. The rest of the Hauhungaroa Track is open.
Before you go, buy 1 Standard Hut Ticket (blue for adults, yellow for youth) for each night's stay. Put this in the honesty box at the hut. Or buy a Backcountry Hut Pass that gives unlimited use at most Standard and Serviced huts for a 6 or 12-month period.
